About

Tools built by a practitioner, for practitioners.

Ironwork Studio is a one-person company in North Carolina. Two products, one mission, no investors.

01

Mission

Mission
Build tools that keep the work — and the proof of it — in the hands of the person who did it.

A world where every creative and knowledge worker has a provable record of their own contribution.

Both products exist because of the same conviction: the person doing the work should own the proof that they did it. commonFrame tracks provenance for knowledge work. ANVIL captures structured records of mixing decisions. Different domains, same principle.

02

Founder

20 years behind a console. Thousands of sessions. Every one of them produced work that belonged to someone else's platform, someone else's format, someone else's cloud.

AI changed what was possible. Not because it replaced the work — because it finally made it possible to build the tools that should have existed all along. ANVIL is the mixing plugin that captures what the engineer actually does, not just what the final bounce sounds like. commonFrame is the platform that makes that same model of ownership available to everyone else.

Not Big Tech. Not VC-backed. Audio-engineer precision and a firsthand understanding of what it means when someone else controls your platform.

03

Values

Four values, ranked. When they conflict, the higher-ranked value wins.

01

Sovereignty

The person doing the work decides. Tools default protective. The person grants whatever autonomy they choose, and the tool respects that choice without nagging or second-guessing.

02

Integrity

The record is honest and complete. Who did what, when, and with what — always traceable, never fabricated.

03

Transparency

No black boxes. Everything the tool does is inspectable. "Why did it do that?" always has an answer.

04

Autonomy

No lock-in. Use your own tools, run on your own hardware, own your own data. Leaving is always free.
